Officers 2010 Commander J D O Macdonald RN
 Commander Douglas Macdonald: Joined the RN as a Naval Aviation Cadet at Dartmouth in September 1960. Naval Aviation training at the RN Observer School, Hal Far, followed by OFT on Sea Vixens, In the 1960’s Sea Vixen Observer with 893 NAS (twice), also 899 and 766 NAS. Qualified as EWI and AWI(O). 1970’s Phantom F4 with 767NAS, 892NAS (twice) and VF121. Served in HM Ships Centaur, Victorious, Eagle, Hermes and Ark Royal and ashore at Yeovilton, Lossiemouth, RAF Leuchars and NAS Miramar, California. The 1980’s brought Senior Instructor at the Observer School and final flying appointment in the Jetstream as CO 750 at Culdrose with over 4,000 hours in the flying log book. Last appointment with MOD on the staff of Director Operational Requirements (Sea) looking after fixed wing weapons and systems. Joined the committee of the FAAOA in 1986 and took over as Admin Director of the Association in 1997. He handed over this post in January 2008. |
